BK21 Program for Graduates

BK21 FOUR (Brain Korea 21 Program for Leading Universities and Students) is a graduate student support program initiated by the Korean government. Its objective is to develop the next generation of world class leaders in academia and industries by providing diverse opportunities for graduate students to build up new creative knowledge and skills along with practical experiences. The College of Electrical and Computer Engineering has received a budget of USD 11.5M (KRW 13.5B) for a 7-year program administration from the government in 2020.

The college has established the BK21 Chungbuk Information Education and Research Center to administer the BK21 FOUR program, with the goal to develop professional researchers and engineers in areas of information and communication technologies including AI, big data, 5G communications and beyond, embedded systems, networks, intelligent robotics, smart electronics, smart grid, and system semiconductors. The center supports graduate students' academic activities through scholarships and fellowships, and additional financial support for participation in international academic conferences and workshops, financial support for journal publications, financial support for participation in global internship and training programs, seminars and special lectures on cutting-edge technologies.
