Industrial AI Research Center (INDAI)
INDAI has been founded to develop and apply industrial AI technologies to manufacturing and business services, and to produce highly qualified professionals who revolutionize industrial practices especially in the regional industries. It has been awarded a budget of USD 17.1M (KRW 20B) from the Ministry of Science and ICT, Korea and the local government of Chungbuk Province in 2020, to act as the regional innovation research center.
Its main mission is to provide an intelligent technology-driven innovation platform in Chungbuk Province for promoting the fourth industrial revolution with the coordinated efforts of central and local governments. It provides diverse opportunities for graduate students to participate in industrial application-oriented research and developments, to take industrial AI-related courses and trainings, and to conduct self-proposed research projects. It also offers both master's and Ph.D. programs for industrial employees.
Research Institute for Computer and Information Communication (RICIC)
RICIC aims to research and develop fundamental and applied technologies in the computing and information communication fields needed in the industries. It promotes the establishment of research centers in collaboration with regional companies on specialized and demanding technologies, such as nano-electronics and circuits, hybrid automobiles, u-sensors and components, energy storage and conversion. In addition, it provides industry-tailored training programs for graduate students.
RICIC supports the research activities of professors and plays a leading role in joint research projects with academia, industry, and other research institutes. It has annually carried out industry-related research projects of USD 0.81M. RICIC has been awarded a research grant of USD 7M as a university-affiliated research center for the project "Development of networking AI engine/device technology for autonomousdriving objects using renewable energy" in 2020.
Green Energy Research Institute (GERI)
In order to meet the growing demand for sustainable economy and society, research on effective use of alternative energy sources has emerged as a major research field. The application of green source technologies has emerged as an irreplaceable lifelong strategy for our society. Aligned with this global trend, Korea started its strategic plans for development that ensure sustainable economic growth in an eco-friendly manner.
To respond to the need for sustainable development, GERI was founded as a research institute specializing in green energy. Through close collaboration with the local government and regional industries, GERI has performed various R&D activities in the broad discipline of green technology. GERI consists of four divisions: Photovoltaic Research Division, Energy Storage Research Division, Bio-Energy Research Division, and Smart Grid Research Division.
Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence (RIAI)
RIAI has been established to develop fundamental technologies and practical applications of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, which is a key technology for the fourth industrial revolution, and promote information exchange and research cooperation. Its major roles include promoting AI research, offering education, consultations, and guidance on AI-related industrial technologies, and performing various entrusted research projects.
RIAI serves as a technical cooperator in the Chungbuk Province and promotes AI convergence research to solve various industrial and social issues. Particularly, the institute aims at nurturing AI-related global talents in cooperation with regional industries in Chungbuk Province. It has also strived to form an AI research base by participating in various collaborations and in-school research projects hosted by Chungbuk Province.
IDEC Chungbuk National University Regional Center
IDEC (IC Design Education Center) Chungbuk National University Regional Center was established in 2010 with the goal of promoting a virtuous cycle system of semiconductor design education through the establishment of educational infrastructure and course development for nurturing semiconductor design experts in Chungbuk Province. The center offers semiconductor design education and training programs that are jointly operated with several other universities.
The center helps graduate and undergraduate students develop semiconductor design skills by offering state-of-the-art training, holding seminars on the latest technological developments, nurturing IC design clubs, and holding semiconductor IC design competitions. It has contributed to training practical semiconductor design experts, and has also promoted collaboration across system semiconductor industries by establishing human networks and coordinating information exchange and collaboration for joint development works.
Big Data Research Institute
Big Data Research Institute contributes to the development of information and communication technology by conducting research and broadening the understanding of Big Data technologies. In collaboration with domestic and overseas research institutes, the institute has organized seminars, workshops, and symposiums to provide a platform for overall technical understanding and exchange on big data convergence technology and various other technologies.
The institute has been engaged in developing local businesses through the development of big datarelated services and technology transfer through industry-university cooperation. Specifically, it conducts advanced research related to corporate informatization and provides consulting services reguired to build information systems for local businesses. Furthermore, it offers consulting services related to reorganizing a company's workflow, in areas such as production, human resources, and finance. It also offers technologies to build an integrated information system.
Research Institute of SW Testing and Verification
The institute was established to provide objective and reliable evaluation services for software tools and products developed in state-funded R&D projects. It has been licensed as a technology and managementrelated mentorship organization by the Small and Medium Business Technology Information Promotion Agency, a government organization, to enhance the possibilities of successful commercialization of SMEs’ software services and products. It provides consulting services for SMEs to develop such performance indexes that secure the competitiveness of their services and products in the technological perspectives in the target market. It also provides brokering services to match an SME with an accredited certification body to issue accredited test reporting and self-performance testing. Furthermore, it is entrusted with the market analysis and the identification of partner organizations for successful commercialization.
