The Department of Intelligent Systems and Robotics started its first school year in March 2021, making our university the first national university to establish a department specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. Intelligent systems and robotics are interdisciplinary studies that combine electronic engineering, computer engineering, control and automation, and mechatronics. The department provides students with in-depth education on cutting-edge technologies, such as AI, robotics, and autonomous driving. Its curriculum consists of core subjects and practice labs for intelligent systems and robots to foster creative engineers and practitioners armed with theory and practice.
The department offers an interdisciplinary major program in smart car engineering. The program provides a curriculum related to smart car education that uses experiment and practice facilities of the C-track. The C-track is the driving performance test center for autonomous vehicles, built with financial support from the Korean government and Chungcheonbuk-do regional government. It consists of an approximately 10,000 square-meter arena and supporting facilities located in Ochang, Chungcheonbuk-do.
