A research team of Professor Jaesoo Yoo (School of Information and Communications Engineering) won the grand prize of the Minister of Science and ICT in the research data sector at the '2021 Research Data AI Analysis Contest'. The content was held at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) on December 2, 2021.
The research team consisted of Professor Jaesoo Yoo from the Department of Information and Communication Engineering, Dr. Dojin Choi, visiting assistant professor from the same department, and Do-Woong Pyun and Young-Ho Oh, 2nd year of master's degree. The research team presented a project titled 'Expert Recommendation System Using NTIS and ScienceON Data,' which was selected as the best project to receive the grand prize.
In this competition, which was held for the second time, participants demonstrated various use cases of data analysis by utilizing DataON or personal research data. DataON is a national research data platform (DataON) that registers and stores research data of tasks performed as a national R&D project and can be shared and utilized with various researchers.
In particular, a total of 31 teams participated in the research data section, which involved demonstrating various use cases of data analysis, and 34 teams participated in the artificial intelligence section, which involved developing artificial intelligence models and optimizing their performance. The evaluation went through document evaluation, use case and AI model development, and public presentation evaluation, which was held online.
It is noteworthy that the Network and Database lab led by Professor Jaesoo Yoo actively conducts various research in the information science field, including the publication of more than 10 SCI/SCOPUS international journal papers and more than 20 KCI indexed journal papers every year.
